Dear Gerri and Ron and Janice, Marilyn and I have been grieving with you these last couple of weeks. Of course Gene would object! He's with the One he taught about so powerfully all His adult life! I can hear him saying, "don't you just love Jesus!He's the secret centre of our life! What powerful years of ministry you two had in Canadian InterVarsity from 1969 into the late eighties! Much as we were deeply inspired by Gene's teaching- especially the parables, Neil remembers after the talks when we just chatted about the difficulties of leadership( I was a vice president of IV) and I waited for Gene's wisdom, humor and affirmation. It was Gene who told me to investigate Jim Berney as a potential Presdident for IV Canada, saying,"he's not afraid to hire people stronger and more gifted than himself". How right he was! Gerri, you were a perfect mate for Gene and so friendly and concerned for us...Marilyn loved your quiet,gentle, happy disposition. I remember many times seeing you at the hotel immersed in boxes of papers- baptised in bills!-keeping the business going so Gene could continue teaching the gospel to so many. Ron and Janice, I remember you at Ranch camp- you were lots of fun! I have been able to think of little else these last weeks than the great debt IV Canada and we personally owe to you and Gene. How we miss him and how he blessed us! The whole movement become Thomites in those years and to this day! May the Lord be close and deeply comfort you! Love, Neil and Marilyn Graham
