The memory I have of Gene that stands out to me most is when I was on IV staff. As I got out of the car at a camp where he going to speak, I heard the enthusiasm and delight in that inimitable voice, "Sharon!!" As I ran across the parking lot to see him, I remember thinking, "Oh, God loves me...I'd forgotten." It's always stuck with me--I'd like to be the kind of person people just lay eyes on and say, "Oh, God loves me...I'd forgotten!" May the Lord comfort your hearts and strengthen you all day-by-day.
